BMTC 2027 is intentionally being revealed in phases. This FAQ includes the information currently available; specific instructors, CE courses, wellness experiences, and the final detailed itinerary will be announced as they are finalized.
The Black Massage Therapist Conference is evolving into a 3-day, 3-night professional retreat experience created for Black massage therapists and massage therapy students. The retreat will combine continuing education, professional development, wellness, connection, networking, and social experiences — with intentional space to rest and enjoy the resort.
BMTC 2027 will take place Sunday, October 3 through Tuesday evening, October 5, 2027 at the Sheraton Mesa Hotel at Wrigleyville West in Mesa, Arizona, within the Phoenix metropolitan area. Retreat hotel nights are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, with checkout on Wednesday, October 6.
BMTC is designed primarily for Black Licensed Massage Therapists and Black massage therapy students. Industry partners, sponsors, exhibitors, instructors, and approved adult companions may participate according to their registration type.
After three previous BMTC conference years, the 2027 experience is being expanded to create more room for education, restoration, community, professional connection, and enjoyment. The goal is to offer more than a traditional conference schedule while still providing meaningful professional development.
No. BMTC 2027 represents the fourth BMTC event cycle. The retreat format is an evolution of the conference experience, not a brand-new event.
Retreat packages include full 3-day BMTC retreat registration, 3 hotel nights, 2 days of lunch and dinner, continuing education opportunities, networking and exhibitor experiences, wellness/restorative programming, social experiences, and other included retreat activities. Additional details will be released in phases.
Shared Double Queen pricing is per person. Early Bird: $1,099 | Regular: $1,299 | Late: $1,499. Each roommate must purchase their own retreat package.
Private Room pricing for 3 nights: Early Bird: $1,499 | Regular: $1,699 | Late: $1,899. King room preference is subject to final hotel inventory.
From September 1–30, 2026, an attendee may pay a $99 deposit toward either a Shared Double Queen or Private Room package. The deposit reserves the attendee's retreat spot and locks in the Early Bird package rate. The $99 is applied toward the package balance; it is not an additional discount.
The September $99 Lock-In Deposit Special ends after September 30. Outside the special, the planned standard deposit is $250 per attendee. Final registration-phase dates and payment deadlines will be published on the official BMTC website.
Yes. Remaining balances may be paid according to the published BMTC payment schedule. Extended monthly payment plans may be paid via Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm.
All registrations and payments must be completed through the official Black Massage Therapist Conference / 4 Nineteen Education & Training registration process. Do not submit BMTC payments to unauthorized individuals, vendors, third-party organizations, or unofficial payment links.
Yes. Active Knead to Connect members receive 10% off the retreat-registration portion of their package. The lodging allocation is not discounted. The member benefit may be used with the September $99 deposit special, but it cannot be combined with BOGO or another percentage/price discount.
A limited BOGO offer will be promoted for 2 massage therapist. It will have its own eligibility, pricing, and payment terms and will not use the September $99 deposit structure. Full terms will be announced when the promotion opens.
The Shared Double Queen package is priced per person and is intended for two paid BMTC retreat attendees sharing one Double Queen room. One attendee's package does not cover the second attendee's retreat registration.
Yes. Roommate requests should be mutual and submitted by the published roommate deadline. Both attendees must be fully registered for the Shared Double Queen Retreat Package.
Private Room Retreat Packages are available. Additional private-room and room-inventory information will continue to be released as hotel details are finalized.
Yes, adult companion options are planned for spouses/significant others who will not attend educational programming. Companion access, pricing, and inclusions will be announced shortly. Companions should plan to stay in the registered attendee's Private Room, for an additional cost of $299. This will allow them to attend the ALL White Party on Monday night. Shared Double Queen retreat rooms are reserved for two paid retreat attendees.
BMTC 2027 is planned as an adults-only retreat. Attendees and companions must be age 18 or older.
The contracted group rate may be available up to 3 days before and 3 days after the retreat, subject to hotel availability and final booking instructions. Extra nights are not included in the standard 3-night retreat package.
Yes. Continuing education will be part of BMTC 2027. 4 Nineteen Education & Training is a NCBTMB Approved Provider (Provider #1000286). The final number of available CE hours and the specific approved courses will be announced as the program is finalized.
BMTC 2027 will include a mix of hands-on, clinical, business, and professional-development education. Specific course titles and instructors are being released in phases rather than all at once.
Yes. BMTC is a retreat experience, and attendees will have choices throughout the program. You are not expected to attend every educational or wellness offering. CE credit is only awarded for eligible sessions that are fully attended and completed according to provider requirements.
CE acceptance can vary by state and license type. Attendees are responsible for confirming their own state or licensing-board requirements. Course-specific approval information will be provided as the CE schedule is released.
If nearby bring your massage table. Please bring oils, lotions and sheets for your tables. Supply and equipment requirements will be communicated with the specific CE/workshop information. Please do not assume that every attendee must travel with a massage table.
Yes. Retreat packages include 2 days of lunch and dinner. Specific meal times, menus, dietary-request procedures, and any optional food/beverage experiences will be shared closer to the retreat.
No. Airfare and transportation to/from Arizona are not included in the retreat package.
We have 1 Major Airport: Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport which is 15-20minutes away. Most Airlines fly into and out. However, Mesa Gateway Airport which is about 20 minutes away has Allegiant Airlines and Canadian airlines.
Unfortunately, there is not an airport shuttle service. You can pay for a rideshare, it's should be reasonable because the Resort is only 15-20 minutes away from the airport.
The current Sheraton agreement includes complimentary parking for the group. Final arrival and parking instructions will be shared with registered attendees.
Yes. The current hotel agreement includes complimentary Wi‑Fi in guest rooms and meeting spaces.
Yes. The retreat is being intentionally designed with room for rest, pool time, connection, and optional experiences in addition to education. The detailed schedule will be released closer to the event.
Plan for comfortable clothing for movement, wellness, and hands-on learning; casual resort wear for downtime; and event-appropriate attire for social experiences. Specific dress themes or special-event attire will be announced with the final itinerary.
No refunds. All payments are final. Registrations may not be transferred from one person to another and may not be gifted. Regardless of the reason, no refunds or transfers will be issued for any registration.
Because lodging is included within the BMTC retreat package, attendees should follow BMTC's published cancellation/change process rather than contacting the hotel to cancel the included retreat room independently. Final procedures will be provided with the registration terms.
By attending or participating in BMTC, you acknowledge that 4 Nineteen Education & Training and the Black Massage Therapist Conference may capture and use event photos or videos for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes, subject to the final attendee terms.
Service-animal questions should be coordinated with the hotel and BMTC in advance so that any applicable hotel procedures and accessibility needs can be addressed.
Yes! The resort has a restaurant and there are plenty of restaurants across the street/nearby park that is within walking distance.
